Jenny gets 10 points for pronouncing "Chatelaine" correctly!

Oh wait, it's Aussie Tom that gives out points...just pretend I'm Aussie Tom and imagine his voice...wait this is getting weird...but it is called the sex episode...okay I really just wanted to say thanks for the mention.

Don't get me started on tip jars.

Here's another dilemma, though: I was at a local bakery this morning, and there was a "take a penny/leave a penny" tray next to the register. Not a problem, of course, except for the fact that there was about $3.00 in change in there, including quarters, dimes, and nickels. The question is, if my order is $2.39, can I take the 39 cents from the tray? (Only if I want to look like a cheap b@$&*#!, of course.)

For what it's worth, I tip bartenders, restaurant servers who take my order and bring me food, and anyone else Tish Baldridge would recommend I do. :-)

Thanks Shelly and Joe! Joe, I agree with you that if you work for my money, I'll give you my money. This situation is different because I can see her eyeballing me as I fill out the slip and that makes me feel weird. Shelly, I'm glad you liked the song from 3 Blind Mice. They are one of the most talented indie bands out there and they take a lot of chances with their music. Along with Amplifico, they are one of my favorite bands we've played.

I agree, no tips if all they do is check you out. We have a couple places here that do that.

Here in Austin, and I'm told this really is an Austin thing, lots of coffee shops, restaurants with counter service, and probably dog groomers, for all I know, have big tip jars out on the counter. Since they're everywhere, they're pretty easy to ignore, though I do throw my chang in at my favorite coffee place because I like the guy who sells me my espresso a lot, and he plays good music.

Couldn't you avoid the whole "filling out the slip" problem by simply paying with cash?
